NFPA 1999 (2008 ed.) establishes the minimum performance and design requirements for protective garments for persons providing emergency medical care. The standard is very rigorous, with garments being preconditioned with 25 wash/dry cycles prior to all testing (except THL). Stedair moisture barriers do not just meet the requirements, they exceed them.

The table below highlights the tests to which the fabrics used in the garment, including the moisture barrier, are subjected.

*Seams also tested
**Garment Composite tested

*NB: As of November 2008, workers on a federal highway have to wear high visibility clothing that complies with ANSI/ISEA 107-2004 class 2 or 3.
